Guess what I did this weekend? I went skiing! Thursday night 3 of the 4 ski bitches met in Stuttgart and jumped into the A3 to head towards Kaprun, Austria - our preferred winter location. Just
that this time it was August! After 4 hours on the crowded Autobahn we reached our little piece of heaven.
On Friday we slept late, had a nice breakfast and afterwards went into town to check out the summer activities. The whole town was on its feet because there was a sale going on. Everything was off
40% so I went straight into shopping mode and got myself some nice new skis.
This accomplishment needed to be celebrated with some Weisswurst and Radler at the Dorffest. Beeing unable to walk or shop anymore we went to the pool to relax.
On Saturday we got up at 6 am to head up to the mountain to ski! We were the first people at the gondola and it was still closed. But after a little bit of waiting we were on our way up.
4 runs were open and we skied like crazy for a few hours but around 11 am the snow became a little slushy and we were were looking for a place to sit and have a drink. And boy, did I need a drink a
little later...
One of my big dreams was riding a snow cat and I had been nagging about it for years, Antje finally took things in her hands and asked one of the drivers for a ride. And sure enough she convinced
him! It was like Chistmas and birthday at the same time for me. I was totally thrilled!
After this exciting event we were starving and needed to get a good Austrian dish - well, actually we got two: A plate of Groestl each and a shared Kaiserschmarn. It was absolutely yummie!
There is only one thing we did not like so much: reaching the valley in ski gear at 90 degrees... That is no fun!
To cool down we went to the pool again. After relaxing for a while we were ready to finish up the day with a good BBQ, a few shots and a nice view of our beautiful mountain- the Kitzsteinhorn.
On Sunday we went back into town to go for bargain hunting at the American Sale. I almost could not believe it: Shopping on a Sunday AND 60% off!!!
It was a perfect weekend and we decided to come back again next August. We really loved this summer experience but we are already counting the days until our next winter trip. Cheers and see you
soon in Kaprun! :)
